Events Calendar 2019

1. New Years Concert: 1st January 2019. Budapest in Danube Palace at 8.00 p.m.

2. Budapest Spring Festival - from 5th April  till 22d April

This internationally renowned festival is Hungary's largest cultural platform. Some 200 events are staged at more than 60 venues in the biggest cultural festival in Hungary.The outstanding classical and pop music concerts attract famous Hungarian and foreign artists and ensembles, and the theatrical performances, exhibitions and open-air events are equally impressive.

3. Operetta Ship - from the end of March to 31st October
Artists of the Opera House and Operetta Theatre perform pieces from operettas, musicals and operas as well as Italian and Spanish songs on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings. A generous buffet supper is also served during the cruise on the Danube.

4. Hollókõ Easter Festival - 20-22.April
The picturesque, World Heritage village of Hollókõ revives ancient folk customs associated with the arrival of spring. Visitors can admire the wonderfully ornate folk costumes, learn how to decorate the famous Hungarian painted Easter eggs, and enjoy the folklore programme and folk crafts fair.

5. Budapest Fair - at the end of June
The Fair has been organized since 1991 to commemorate the final withdrawal of Soviet troops from Hungary. The programme includes a summer carnival, street theatre meeting, jazz concerts, children's programmes and a classical music concert on Heroes' Square. All events are free.

6. Palace Concerts - Chamber Music Festival - Gödöllõ - June
One of the summer's most important classical music events attracts Europe's best musicians to Hungary.

7. Formula-1 Marlboro Hungarian Grand Prix -02.-04. August- Mogyoród
World-class drivers pitch their skills against each other at the Hungaroring circuit.

8. Baroque Palace Days - at the beginning of August - Gödöllõ
With the help of a lively fair, attractions, riding displays, concerts and dance performances, visitors are whisked back to the Baroque age and the time of Antal Grassalkovich, founder of the Royal Palace.

9 Sziget Festival: -  07.-13. August Shipyard Island on the Danube becomes a town within the city during this multicultural festival. Around 500 000 come to Sziget each year for concerts feauturing global names, the cream of Hungarian bands and rising stras.

10. Celebration of Crafts - 18th - 20th August
Many of the most prominent craftsmen and women in Hungary present their skills in workshop set up throughout the Buda Castle, while visitors can also take in folk dance and folk music performances. The Feast Day of King St. Stephen on 20th August is marked with a procession of harvesters and the blessing of the new bread.

11. New Orleans Swing Festival- by the end of August.

12. Nike Budapest International Half - Marathon - September
Runners can choose from the 21 km half-marathon or 4, 8, and 12 km distances. The route leaves from City Park and takes in the most attractive parts of Budapest.

13. Budapest International Wine Exhibition and Fair - in the first part of September
The best wine-makers introduce themselves at exhibitons and afair organized in the grounds of Buda Castl, and once again there is the essential wine auction and grape harvest procession. The festival also includes cultural programmes, classical and jazz concerts.

14. Budapest Christmas Markets November - 1st January 2020.
Folk and applied artists selll their wares, made exclusively of natural materials, in Vörösmarty Square. Visitors can wiew the giant Advent Calendar and enjoy a variety of qualitiy programmes.
